New Waterloo's La Matta To Open In East Austin On Dec. 4

AUSTIN, TX -- East Austin is set to welcome a cozy corner eatery, La Matta, featuring Italian sandwiches, salad and wine shop on Monday, Dec. 4 at the corner of 5th Street & Comal. La Matta's Executive Chef Erind Halilaj will offer a menu of classic Italian paninis, salads, mozzarella plates, salumi boards, and hand-selected wine and beer on tap.

Patrons will also enjoy patio seating, a large screen for soccer viewing, and a flexible configuration for private events. La Matta is an ideal spot for business lunches, casual dinner and drinks, or as a relaxed gathering place for friends. In addition to all-day counter service, La Matta will offer both take-away dining and catering services. “My goal with La Matta is to bring authentic Italian sandwiches to Austin,” Chef Halilaj says. “Authentic meaning there is no interpretation—this is what you would eat in Italy, presented in exactly the same way.”

La Matta is located at 501 Comal Street, Austin, TX 78702 and will be open 11am - 9pm daily starting December 4th.
