Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Cap Metro Bus [UPDATE]

Man in his 40s was pinned underneath the bus when EMS arrived and was declared dead at the scene.

EAST AUSTIN -- More details have emerged related to the man who was killed early Wednesday after being struck by a Capital Metro bus in East Austin.

According to a published report, the deceased man was lying on the street at the 1800 block of Celeste Circle when he was struck. The site of the collision is near Heflin Lane and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Austin police said the bus driver didn’t see the man, partly because he was wearing dark clothing, reports the Austin American-Statesman. The man’s lifeless body was pinned under the bus when emergency crews arrived shortly after midnight.

The man’s identity has yet to be released. He was believed to be in his 40s.

The Jan. 10 accident occurred at the 1800 block of Celeste Circle.

Austin-Travis County EMS officials said the victim, who was in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS officials noted the pedestrian was trapped under the bus when they arrived on the scene just after midnight.
