Pedestrian Killed Trying To Cross Highway In East Austin

The man in his 20s was struck by a car just after 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

EAST AUSTIN, TX -- A pedestrian was killed early Sunday while attempting to cross Interstate 35 near Cesar Chavez Street, emergency officials said.

A vehicle struck the male pedestrian just after 3 a.m. Austin-Travis County EMS officials said the man was believed to have been in his 20s.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A stretch of the highway near the accident site was closed off as police investigated the scene, but has since been reopened.
