Man Arrested For Murder After Victim Collapses At East Austin Bus Stop, Later Dies
Charles Edward Reedy, 63, was arrested for another murder in 2001 before beating the rap on appeal and being released five years later.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A man convicted 16 years ago for murder has been arrested on the same charge stemming from the death of a man who was collapsed at an East Austin bus stop before succumbing to his injuries, police said Monday.
The origins of the case date to March 10, when police received a 911 call that a man had fallen near the bus stop at the southeast corner of 7th and Comal streets along the 1600 block of the former artery. Arriving medics with the Austin-Travis County EMS began resuscitation efforts on the man, who had sustained undisclosed unspecified trauma to his body.
Later identified as Glen Raymond Burford, 51, the victim died after being transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge. Detectives later learned Burford lived close to the bus stop and walked to the area after being attacked. A subsequent autopsy determined Burford's death was a homicide, police said.

On May 5—one month to the day the victim would've turned 52 years of age—homicide detectives obtained a 1st degree felony murder warrant for the arrest of Charles Edward Reedy, 63, in connection to Burford's death. Reedy was located and arrested by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, and his bond has since been set at $100,000.
This isn't the first time Reedy has been arrested for murder in Austin, police noted. In December 2001, Reedy was arrested for the murder of John Teller. Convicted of that murder, Reedy was released five years later on appeal.
