Police Arrest Suspects After Pair Stabbed In Wooded East Austin Area

The incident occurred at the intersection of East Riverside and Clubview Avenue, according to police.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Two suspects face aggravated assault charges after a woman and man were attacked and stabbed as they slept in an East Austin wooded area recently, according to an arrest affidavit.

The incident occurred at the intersection of East Riverside and Clubview Avenue on Saturday although an affidavit detailing the matter has only recently been disclosed. KXAN reported that a woman told police she woke up early amid commotion to find Maurice Tuamokumo, 32, stabbing her boyfriend, Jaime Aguilar.

According to the affidavit, another woman, Diana Rodriguez, 40, punched her in the head multiple times and tried dragging her by the legs toward a nearby fire, the station reported. The victim said Tuamokumo then started to stab her before both suspects fled when police were called, KXAN reported.

Police said the woman had stab wounds on her head, back and rib cage while Aguilar had “severe lacerations” on his right arm, according to the affidavit. Both were hospitalized for treatment of their injuries.

Police later found the pair of suspects covered in blood about five blocks from the crime scene, the news station reported. The knife believed to have been used during the attack also was located in a backpack, according to the report.

Rodriguez and Tuamokumo now face aggravated assault charges.
