Police ID Pedestrian Who Died After Being Hit By Car In East Austin
Arnold 'Otto' French, 75, was crossing Springdale Road last Sunday night when he was hit by a car, dying of his injuries two days later.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police have identified the pedestrian killed after being hit by a car last Sunday in East Austin.
A preliminary police investigation shows that a Hyundai was traveling westbound along Bandera Road before turning southbound along the 1700 block of Springdale Road. The pedestrian who was crossing Springdale from west to east was struck by the vehicle.
The victim has been identified as Arnold "Otto" French, 75. He succumbed to his injuries two day after being struck by the vehicle.

Police didn't indicate in their news advisory whether the driver was cited or fled the scene. Police also didn't indicate in their advisory whether alcohol consumption played a role in the collision.

The deadly collision marked Austin’s 30th fatal traffic crash and the 32nd fatality of 2017, police noted. At this time in 2016, there were 31 fatal traffic crashes and 31 traffic fatalities, police added.
