Police Release Photo, Video Of Suspect In Attempted East Austin Kidnapping [Video]

Unidentified man is said to have asked little girl for help finding his dog, only to force her into car before she was able to escape.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday released photos and video of a suspect accused of having tried to kidnap a child in East Austin last month.

According to Austin police, the incident occurred at the Booker T. Washington Terrace apartment complex near the 2500 block of Rosewood Avenue on Sept. 19 at around 8 p.m.

The man is said to have asked a child to help him locate his dog, offering her money in exchange for her assistance. The child agreed, only to be forced into the suspect's car before she quickly escape.

Police provided details on the incident in a Wednesday press conference:

The suspect is described as standing between five feet, five inches to five feet, eight inches in height with a muscular build, short black hair and a bald spot. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark blue jeans and basketball shoes. His vehicle is described as a white, four-door car.

Anyone with information is urged to call the police child abuse unit at (512) 472-8477.
