Police Release Video, Images Of Suspect In String Of East Austin Store Robberies

The prolific suspect has struck seven times in a less than one month, hitting one store twice and another three times in quick succession.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect in a series of East Austin convenience store robberies.

The robberies have occurred between Sept. 25 and Oct. 16, police said. The suspect displayed a handgun in five of the seven robberies, officials added. According to police data, the suspect brazenly hit the same store three times in sixteen days and another twice in three days. The locations and times of the robberies are as follows:

  • Monday, Sept. 25 at 5:57 p.m., Fighting Orange store at 3897 N. Interstate 35 northbound service road.
  • Thursday, Oct. 5 at 1:26 p.m., Fighting Orange store, 3807 N I-35 northbound service road.
  • Saturday, Oct. 7 at 6:15 p.m., MLK Food Store, 2915 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard.
  • Friday, Oct. 13 at 11:31 a.m., Monarch Food Store, 1402 E. 38th½ St.
  • Friday, Oct. 13 at 4:15 p.m., East 1st Grocery Store, 1811 E. Cesar Chavez
  • Monday, Oct. 16 at 7:38 p.m., East 1st Grocery Store, 1811 E. Cesar Chavez
  • Monday, Oct. 16 at 8:23 p.m., Fighting Orange, 3807 N I-35 northbound service road.

The suspect is described as a black man standing at a height of six feet, three inches and six feet, five inches weighing between 300 and 325 pounds. He sports a shaved head and a tattoo above his left elbow. Police on Tuesday released surveillance camera images of the suspect as well as a a video snippet in the hopes someone might recognize him and alert the authorities.
