Austin Police Reveal Name Of Motorcyclist Who Died After Speeding

Donald Williams, 63, was unable to make an exit in entering westbound East Highway 71 and lost control of his motorcycle.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police identified the motorcyclist who died last month after losing control of his bike while speeding, causing him and his passenger to be ejected.

Donald Williams, just a month shy of his 64th birthday, was traveling northbound in the 1300 block of Lockhart Highway on Nov. 11 about about a quarter to 10 p.m. Police say he was driving at an excessive rate of speed while exiting onto westbound East Highway 71.

He wasn't able to negotiate the exit, police said. Instead, he laid down the bike, causing both occupants to be ejected. Williams was rushed to St. David's South Austin Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries days later on Nov. 23.
