Rosewood Pool In East Austin Closed To Mitigate Paint-Induced Water Cloudiness

Dottie Jordan Pool opened earlier than expected in order to provide an alternative to residents during ten-day closure at Rosewood Pool.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — The Rosewood Pool in East Austin will be closed for more than a week while city crews work in preventing its paint from clouding the water, according to reports.

Austin Parks & Recreation officials alerted the public to the closure on the municipal website. KXAN learned the ten-day Rosewood Pool closure that began Wednesday was due to mitigate paint from the pool's bottom that was making the water cloudy. The worry was that the cloudiness would result in poor visibility for lifeguards, the station noted in its report.

Officials said the pool was expected to be re-opened on June 17.
