Suspect Identified in Multiple East Austin Home Burglaries

The 20-year-old is believed to have stolen valuable items from four different East Austin homes.

EAST AUSTIN, TX - Police issued a warrant for the arrest of a man they believe is responsible for a string of burglaries in East Austin.

Lucas Tapia, 20, allegedly left fingerprints behind at the scene of four separate burglaries that took place between December 2013 and January 2014, Austin Police said.

According to police, Tapia committed his first burglary on December 9, 2013 when he broke into a home on the 5500 block of Jain Lane and swiped a silver MacBook Pro.

On December 20, 2013 Tapia allegedly entered a home on the 4800 block of Lyons Road and stole items such as a Dell Laptop, gun, and rings.

Police believe the suspect later broke into a home on the 2100 block of E. 20th Street and stole jewelry and two tablets. Tapia is also believed to have stolen an Xbox 360 and skateboard from a home on the 3100 block of Lafayette Avenue.

Tapia will face multiple felony counts of second-degree robbery.
