Suspect Surrenders After Barricading Himself
Austin Police Department, SWAT team, respond to hours-long standoff.

EAST AUSTIN, TX -- An unidentified suspect was placed in police custody late Sunday after he had barricaded himself for several hours inside a building after refusing to leave.
According to a report by KVUE-TV, members of the Austin Police Department and a a SWAT team responded to the 5300 block of Cameron Road at 6:47 p.m. Police were called after the man entered the Metro PCS building--housing the namesake mobile phone supplier, an Auto Zone and other businesses--and refused to leave when asked.
Police negotiators talked to the man for several hours, and he ultimately was placed in police custody shortly after 11 p.m. The man—referred to as “Justin” by police during the hours-long negotiating of his surrender—was believed to have been holding a knife while barricaded, reported KVUE.
