Two-Car Collision In East Austin Sends Five People To Hospital With Serious Injuries

Three of those hurt are children, rushed to the hospital with serious, potentially critical injuries.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A two-vehicle crash in East Austin late Saturday morning sent five people — including three children — to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries, according to emergency officials.

The crash occurred just before 11 a.m. in the southbound 3200 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard, according to Austin-Travis County EMS officials. Three children were rushed to Dell Children's Medical Center with serious, potentially critical injuries, medics said. Two adults with potentially serious injuries were transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge.

Traffic was halted briefly to allow emergency officials to clear the scene.

There was no word as to what caused the collision, but roads are slick after rain that is anticipated to last until Monday started in earnest on Saturday morning.
