Unseasonably Warm Thanksgiving Day Forecast For Austin Area

Weather will be far from fowl (sorry) with sunny weather all week and temps in the 70s before dipping into the 50s, high 40s.

AUSTIN, TX — If you like unseasonably warm temperatures, you can add the climate among your things for which to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

According to the National Weather Service, a high temperature near 76 degrees was expected on Tuesday — about seven degrees hotter than what's normal this time of year. By nightfall, cloud formation will occur and overnight temps will fall to the 50s, forecasters figure.

On Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, sunshine will abound. It'll be cooler than Tuesday, with the high temperature predicted at around 62 degrees before dipping into the upper 50s by the afternoon before dropping all the way down to 39 degrees.

On the city's outskirts, it will be a tad chillier on Wednesday, according to meteorologists. Some are calling for a light freeze possible in the Hill Country.

So how about Thanksgiving Day? Will the weather be fowl? (Sorry.) Quite the contrary: It'll reach near 70 degrees before dropping to the 40s by the overnight hours. The low is expected to be around 45 degrees after you've eaten turkey. Outside, as you recover from the feast, there will be a calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 miles per hours, forecasters say.

By nightfall on Thanksgiving Day, it will be clear with a light southeast wind swirling at around 5 miles per hour becoming southwest after midnight, NWS officials predict.

The unseasonably warm trend will continue into the weekend: Sunny with a high near 76 on Friday with a low of 51 degrees; more sunny weather with the same high temp with a low at around 50 degrees; and sunny with a high near 72 with an overnight low of 51 degrees.

So the Austin region will remain as mercurial as ever with its highs and lows, with Thanksgiving week no exception to that norm. But, hey, at least it won't be raining, right? The day itself will be rather pleasant overall, and it won't be a turkey.
