Vandals Alter a Gun Show Sign in East Austin

Organizers noticed the vandalism on Friday morning.

An East Austin billboard for next month’s Texas Firearm Festival was altered to spell out “Texas Fear Festival.”

Police are looking for the people who vandalized the billboard. According to the Austin American-Statesman, the billboard at East 11th reflected the festival name, along with an automatic rifle over the words “Shoot” and “Shop.”

In a statement to the Austin American-Statesman, festival organizer Lee Johnson offered the vandals “responsible” free festival tickets, and joked that that vandalism occurred “just in time for Halloween!”
