Vendors Report Arson, Theft At East Austin Food Truck Site

Vendors at East Side Food Park, 2207 E. Cesar Chavez St., said unknown suspects torched multiple food trucks, stole property.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Fire officials are investigating multiple food truck burglaries in East Austin.

Vendors at East Side Food Park, 2207 E. Cesar Chavez St., told Fox 7 the fires occurred overnight. One property owner said the fires were apparently set despite the gated, locked nature of the space. In addition to the fires, thieves stole equipment from several of the merchants there, according to the report.

In spite of the damage and theft, food truck operators were back at work on Saturday. The told the news station they plan to buy additional locks to further safeguard their possessions.
