Austin Police ID Victim, Suspect In Deadly Domestic Disturbance

Jose Israel Amaya, 39, has been arrested in connection to the death of Patricia Campos, 54, who was found dead inside a home last week.

AUSTIN, TX — Police have identified the suspect and victim connected to what police are calling a possible murder that occurred last week.

The incident dates to Thursday, March 1, when police responded to 5413 La Loma Lane in the eastern portion of the county just after the noon hour. A caller told police an acquaintance had claimed to have killed his wife two days before. Police arrived to the scene with the help of the caller, who was an acquaintance of the suspect. Once there, police spotted both the couple's vehicles in the driveway but learned from the woman's employer that she hadn't shown up for work in two days.

A search warrant was secured to enter the home, and a SWAT team was mobilized after the man barricaded himself inside the home. Eventually, the man exited the house and was promptly arrested. SWAT team members and paramedics entered the building and found the deceased woman.
