Zappos Sponsors Free Adoptions At 4 Texas Animal Shelters, Including One In Austin
On Friday, Sept. 29, those looking to adopt a dog or cat can do so for free at the Austin Animal Shelter, 7201 Levander Loop.

AUSTIN, TX — Zappos, the online apparel and shoe seller, will be covering adoption fees for shelter animals in four Texas facilities this Friday, including Austin.
Officials on Tuesday announced that Zappos.com will sponsor free adoptions for approved adopters, including at the Austin Animal Center. Other participating shelters are the Houston Humane Society, San Antonio Humane Society and Citizens for Animals.
North Shore Animal League America is helping to coordinate the event along with Zappos this Friday, Sept. 29. The event has been dubbed "Friends On Us Fridays." Zappos will cover all adoption costs for dogs and cats at different cities for the next eight weeks.

The Austin Animal Center is located at 7201 Levander Loop, with hours of operation between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The other participating shelters are:
- Citizens for Animals, 17555 Katy Fwy., Houston, TX 77094. Hours of operation: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Houston Humane Society, 14700 Almeda Rd., Houston, TX 77053. Hours of operation: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- San Antonio Humane Society, 4804 Fredericksburg Rd., San Antonio, TX 78279. Hours of operation: Noon to 7 p.m.
