Staff say he's affectionate, good with calm dogs, and eager for walks and cuddles, and they're urgently hoping an El Paso family with secure fencing will step up to adopt him.
   

2. Las Palmas Medical Center's new robot-assisted heart therapy (kvia.com) — Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso is now the first hospital in West Texas offering a robot-assisted procedure to treat atrial fibrillation, potentially ending the need for blood thinners for some patients. Surgeons recently performed the life-changing surgery on a local patient, who calls the new option a gift for people in the Borderland living with irregular heartbeats.
   

3. El Paso Animal Services rescues kitten trapped 20 feet down utility pipe (kfoxtv.com) — El Paso Animal Services pulled off a tricky rescue after a kitten was found 20 feet down a trash-filled utility pipe, then cleaned and evaluated him at the shelter. The good Samaritan who reported the danger ended up adopting the kitten, and officials are urging El Paso residents to call 311 whenever they see an animal that's sick, injured, or in danger.
   

4. dline* El Paso police investigate 'suspicious death' in the Upper Valley, man found with g (kfoxtv.com) — El Paso police are investigating a suspicious death in the Upper Valley after a man in his mid-50s was found with gunshot wounds on Vista Grande near Doniphan and Country Club. Detectives say the incident appears isolated and there's no broader threat to the public, but no arrests have been made as the Crimes Against Persons unit continues gathering information.
   

5. Local hospitals feel the impact of President Trump's Medicaid fund cuts (kvia.com) — Major Medicaid funding cuts tied to a new federal law could cost University Medical Center about $3.7 million a month and El Paso Children's Hospital about $7.9 million, though both say patient care should remain unaffected for now. Hospital leaders in El Paso are closely watching state and federal negotiations over the CHIRP program as Texas facilities brace for nearly $10 billion in reduced Medicaid support.
