2. Fort Bliss soldiers help shelter dogs (kvia.com) — El Paso residents and Fort Bliss soldiers can join the monthly Rescue Runners program, where volunteers walk shelter dogs from El Paso Animal Services on the first Sunday of each month. The early-morning event offers exercise for the dogs, volunteer hours for soldiers, and a chance for community members to connect with pets that might later become adoptable companions.
3. El Paso family renews push to find missing relative with new technology (kfoxtv.com) — A decades-old El Paso missing child case is back in the spotlight as new age-progression technology shows what 20‑month‑old Joseph Hurtado might look like today. His family, still searching for answers after his 1974 disappearance in the Upper Valley, is urging people to consider DNA testing and genetic genealogy that could finally bring them closure.
4. Crime Stoppers of El Paso's 'Most Wanted' fugitives for the week of Oct. 3 (kfoxtv.com) — Crime Stoppers of El Paso is highlighting its latest list of "Most Wanted" fugitives sought by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and El Paso Police Department, and is asking for the community's help. If you recognize anyone, you can anonymously share tips by phone or online, and could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
5. El Paso Fire helps to rescue stranded dog in Central Texas (ktsm.com) — El Paso firefighters from the Water Rescue Team are in Central Texas helping with flood rescues and recently helped save a stranded dog after its owner was pulled from rising waters. Six team members, with boats and trucks, have been working long hours statewide and are expected back home in El Paso on Saturday after assisting communities hit by remnants of Hurricane Polo.
