ELPCC : EPCC Tejanas Sweep Honors At Half Marathon Nationals

El Paso Community College (EPCC) Women's Half Marathon Team won the National Junior College Athletic Association Half Marathon National Championships held in Richmond, Virginia. Head Coach, Felix Hinojosa was named the Women's Coach of the Year.

Faith Nyathi led the Tejanas claiming the individual national championship with a time of 1:18:39. That was 5:26 ahead of the field. Teammate Jayleen Guerrero finished 3rd and earned All American honors with Nyathi.
Faith's 2021 season has been highlighted by many national recognitions. She was the Division 1 Runner of the Week twice, West region Athlete of the Year, National Champion of the Cross Country and Half Marathon events and All American for Cross Country and Half Marathon. Only a freshman, EPCC is excited about Faith's future career at EPCC and beyond.

The Tejanos finished in 7th place and were led by Adams Biwott who finished in 7th place with a time of 1:05:34. Teammate Kelvin Chiku finished in 21st place. The Men's National Champion was Iowa Central Community College. Adams' year was stellar as well. He was Division 1 Runner of the Week once, West Region Athlete of the Year and All American in Cross Country.
Up next at EPCC is Men's Baseball and Women's Softball. Each begins January, 2022.
