The Forney City Council approved an annual asphalt maintenance agreement at its May 5 meeting. Here are the details of the contract and other meeting highlights.
The city posted a wrap-up from the meeting to social media on Wednesday. According to the post, council approved the agreement with Anderson Asphalt & Concrete Paving, LLC for asphalt maintenance and materials services on an as-needed basis throughout the day.
The agreement supports ongoing asphalt repairs, maintenance, and new asphalt installation projects as part of the city's Public Works operations. Over the past five years, Anderson Asphalt & Concrete Paving, LLC has completed a variety of projects for the city and has consistently demonstrated quality work, responsiveness, and professionalism, according to the wrap-up.
In other meeting news, Council approved a professional services agreement with Pierce-Murray Land Solutions, LLC for engineering services related to phase three of the Mulberry Park Baseball Four-Plex redesign project.
Improvements will address ongoing drainage issues and include new irrigation systems, replacement turf and sod, updated fencing, and stormwater drainage improvements throughout the complex.
Additionally, council approved an ordinance updating position classifications and the maximum number of positions with the City of Forney Fire and Police departments in accordance with Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code.
The ordinance includes the addition of four new public safety positions made possible through the Crime Control and Prevention District and the SAFER Grant.
Finally, council is scheduled to hold a special meeting on Tuesday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers to canvass the results of the May 2 General Election and order a runoff election for Saturday, June 13. More information to come soon.
