The Fort Worth Police Department is seeking assistance in solving a hit and run last week that resulted in a fatality.
The department posted the call for help to social media on Monday morning. According to the post, the incident happened on Sunday, May 3, at approximately 10:30 a.m.
A pedestrian was attempting to cross E. Loop 820 when they were struck by a while vehicle, possibly an SUV or a pickup truck. The vehicle did not stop after striking the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead on scene.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect's vehicle (including the person who may have been driving it) is asked to contact detectives at 817-392-4892.
According to the Texas Transportation Code, drivers involved in collisions with another vehicle must immediately stop at the scene or as close to it as possible and remain at the scene until they exchange information with the other driver.
Additionally, if a person was injured in the collision, the driver must provide that person "reasonable assistance" toward getting medical treatment. In the case that a person dies as a result of a crash, drivers must immediately report the collision to the local police department.
