Tarrant County's 5 Stones Task Force is hosting a community meeting with a local nonprofit leader to discuss how culture and community response shapes healing for survivors of human trafficking.
The Fort Worth Police Department posted to social media about the event on Monday afternoon. According to the post, the event is titled, "Before Disclosure: How Culture and Community Response Can Change the Trajectory of Healing."
The event will take place on Tuesday, May 26 from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. at 100 N. Forest Park Blvd., STE 200. The meeting will also be streamed online. No RSVP required either virtually or via Zoom, but pre-registering will help organizers get an accurate head count.
Kendall Reed is the founder and executive director of Fort Worth nonprofit Phoenix, which provides trauma-informed advocacy and community outreach for college-aged women who have experienced sexual abuse, sexual assault, dating violence, sexual harassment, and image-based sexual abuse.
During the meeting, Reed will explore how culture and community response shape healing for survivors long before they ever ask for help. A facilitated Q&A session will allow participants to reflect on their own role in creating spaces where belief, support, and empowerment come first.
TC 5 Stones is a community network engaged in collaborative efforts to end human trafficking in Tarrant County. Its partner organizations include the Fort Worth Police Department, Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, Phoenix, and Alliance for Children.
