The department retracted the graphic from that post in a Thursday afternoon social media post.

According to the post, the department originally shared the graphic on May 26. It asks the public for help in identifying a suspect in a shooting that occurred at the White Water Express Car Wash on N. Beach St.

"The individual pictured in the post is not a suspect and should not have been identified or labeled as such," the post states. "After further investigation, detectives determined the individual was not involved in the offense."

The post continues, "We recognize the seriousness of publicly identifying someone as a suspect in an criminal investigation, and the post has been removed. The department is taking steps to ensure better review procedures for future public identifications."

To conclude the post, the department asks that any previously shared versions of that post be removed from social media.
