1. Fort Worth Academy Names New Academic Leaders as School Marks 45th Year (fortworthbusiness.com) — Families in Fort Worth with K-8 students at Fort Worth Academy will see new academic leadership this school year, with longtime educators Bridget Belyeu and Lauren Parker stepping into key roles and Joe Belyeu joining operations. The appointments coincide with the school's 45th year and the 15th anniversary of its Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Innovation program, reinforcing a project-based, small-class learning model for local children.
2. Fort Worth Police Turn To AI For Real-Time De-Escalation Training (dallasexpress.com) — Fort Worth police officers are piloting an AI-based training system from UT Arlington that lets them practice tense encounters and get real-time feedback on their de-escalation skills. The program focuses on better recognizing autism, neurodivergence, and hidden disabilities, and reflects Chief Eddie Garcia's push to use technology and training to improve how officers handle unpredictable street interactions.
3. Man faces capital murder charge after 2 killed at Fort Worth birthday party (dallasnews.com) — Two men were killed and another person wounded when gunfire erupted during a backyard birthday party at a home on Martin Street in southeast Fort Worth, and a 23-year-old now faces a capital murder charge. Fort Worth police say witnesses described an argument, a fight, and then multiple shots, with the accused man also injured when another guest fired to stop further violence.
4. Future memorial park to honor Fred Rouse at site of 1921 lynching near downtown Fort Worth (wfaa.com) — A new memorial park is being built near downtown Fort Worth at the site where Black stockyard worker Fred Rouse was lynched in 1921, in what's believed to be the city's only recorded Klan lynching. Led by his grandson and supported by the Tarrant County Coalition for Peace and Justice, the project invites local residents and businesses to donate, including naming bricks, to ensure this history is remembered.
5. Catholic Charities Fort Worth mission to lift people out of poverty goes national (fortworthreport.org) — A Fort Worth-based nonprofit, Catholic Charities Fort Worth, is expanding its Padua case-management model, first developed to help local residents achieve stable jobs, housing, and income, to communities across the country. Backed by research from Notre Dame, the program has shown strong results for Fort Worth clients and now aims to become a national standard for evidence-based anti-poverty work.
