Harmony School of Innovation-Grand Prairie’s boys basketball team claimed the Texas Charter School Academic & Athletic League Regional Championship on Saturday, defeating sister school Harmony Science Academy-Fort Worth Middle 44-26 to complete a perfect inaugural season.

The victory capped an undefeated 10-0 season and marked a historic achievement for the school's first-ever boys basketball program.

“We didn’t know what to expect going into this season,” said Coach Leeroy Danford. “We just focused on working hard one day at a time, and the boys kept getting better every game.”

The Huskies’ success was especially meaningful given that many players had never competed in organized basketball before this season. Through encouragement and peer leadership, the team quickly developed harmony and confidence on the court.

Team captain King Q. emphasized the broader impact of the championship: "It means a lot to everyone, not just me. We are showing the younger students at our school what they have to look forward to."

King also highlighted the values the team embraced throughout the season. "To be great for everyone — on and off the court! It's personal for me,” he said. “I want to keep helping my teammates and motivating those that look up to me."

The championship reflects Harmony Public Schools' commitment to developing well-rounded students through both academic excellence and extracurricular opportunities, while fostering a collaborative learning environment.

"I think they really took something with them that they can learn for a lifetime,” Danford said. “As long as they put the work in, they’ll be successful in whatever they do.”

The Huskies finished their inaugural season with a perfect 10-0 record and a regional championship, setting a foundation for future success both on the court and in life.
