City of Harlingen receives grant meant to help veterans repair homes (krgv.com) β Harlingen veterans and surviving spouses can now apply for help with critical home repairs and accessibility upgrades thanks to a new $275,000 Housing for Texas Heroes grant. The city expects to assist at least seven households and also has over $200,000 available for rent, utility, and food aid, with in-person applications accepted Tuesdays and Thursdays at 502 East Tyler Avenue.

Valley breast cancer survivors share stories to urge screenings (myrgv.com) β Harlingen breast cancer survivors are sharing their stories through Valley Baptist to urge local women not to skip mammograms, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. DPS: 2 men dead after driver runs red light (valleycentral.com) β Harlingen readers are learning that two Mission men died Sunday after a pickup allegedly ran a red light at FM 1924 and Minnesota Road in Hidalgo County, according to DPS. Troopers say one truck struck another in the intersection, and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene as the investigation continues.
