On the first day of school, phone calls flooded the lines even before 8:00 a.m.

“We are helping parents who tell us their passwords don't work,” said Aries Hernández, a lifeguard at the Aquatic Center. "If we can't help, we direct them to the technology department."

When parents or students call the help center, there are five lifeguards from the HCISD Aquatic Center answering their calls, ready to save students and parents from their technology problems.

"There was a student who was trying to get into his class and he was having a hard time," said Aquatic Center lifeguard David Guerra. “They finally called and I was able to help him from here. Then they were able to log in and you could literally hear the stress leaving their body. "

When they return to the HCISD Aquatic Center, these same lifeguards are preparing digital classes for second graders who typically learn the basics of swimming at the aquatic center.

“We are making videos for the second graders so that if they don't come to our facility, they know what the basics of swimming are,” said Aquatic Center lifeguard Michelle Bishop. “We also reviewed the issue of water safety. In fact, we've been filming ourselves so we can show second graders an introduction to the aquatic center, but it's definitely different than getting in the water and teaching. "

In the meantime, lifeguards at the HCISD Aquatic Center will continue to answer calls to help those struggling with technology.

You can contact the HCISD Technology Support Center at 956-577-0180 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Computer technicians will also be available Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
