• Texas Supreme Court to Consider Whether HPISD Can Withhold Tennis Center Report (peoplenewspapers.com) — Highland Park ISD heads to the Texas Supreme Court on Oct. 8 over whether it can keep a Seay Tennis Center investigation report confidential, a case that could affect what local parents and taxpayers can learn about district finances. Just minutes away at SMU Dedman School of Law, the arguments will be livestreamed and could reshape how public records are treated statewide.
   

• Lawsuit Over HPUMC Governing Documents Gets Non-Jury Trial Date (peoplenewspapers.com) — Highland Park United Methodist Church's long-running dispute with the Horizon Texas Conference over its governing documents now has a non-jury trial date set for October 2027, and members can hear more at a town hall on Oct. 11. The case centers on HPUMC's 2022 name change and bylaw revisions that conference leaders say limit members' voices in major church decisions.
