1,000 Books Gifted To Texas Children's Pediatrics

Houston-area preschools make a difference

The Goddard School preschools located at 9739 Wortham Boulevard and 1720 Crescent Plaza Drive will be donating 1,000 new books to Texas Children’s Pediatrics on Wednesday, September 7 at 1PM. The Schools have pledged to donate 1,000 books per quarter for one year, resulting in a total donation of 4,000 books for local children.

The donation is part of the schools’ initiative to promote literacy in the local community. Located in each of the practices are reading nooks or libraries where visitors can access books to read. However, the shelves have recently been short of book supplies which prompted Robert Chow, on-site owner of The Goddard School, to donate. “Texas Children’s is near and dear to our hearts,” he adds. “My family and I really enjoy reading in these centers, and look forward in supporting the hospital in benefit of future families.”

In addition, The Goddard School located in Crescent Plaza Drive currently hosts a program called “Book of the Month” where each child receives a book every month to take home with them and authors are invited to come read to the children. Preschoolers enjoyed visits from Dee Leone, author of Bizz and Buzz Make Honey Buns and Carolyn Flores, author of Sing, Froggie, Sing.

Texas Children’s is equally excited to have teamed up with the schools. Brian Ballard, Texas Children’s Hospital Library Coordinator, adds, “We appreciate Robert’s help and are thrilled to be receiving new books to include in our nooks and libraries.”
