17-Year Old Clings To Life After Being Shot In The Head

Police are trying to determine if the gunshot was self-inflicted or if someone else in the house shot the teen.

HOUSTON, TX — A 17-year old boy is in the hospital after he was shot in the head inside a southeast Houston duplex.

Police were called to the 3700 block of Amos Street shortly after midnight Monday for a shooting incident.

Police, who are trying to determine if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or if someone else inside the home shot him, are also trying to determine exactly who owns the home. According to a KPRC report, the teen, and others, broke in several weeks ago, and have been squatting there.

Witness inside the duplex told police that the still unidentified teen was playing with a gun at the kitchen counter, when it went off, KTRK reported.

The 17-year old boy was taken to an area hospital and is in unknown condition at this time.

Four people were taken to police headquarters for questioning, but so far no one has been charged with any crime.

Meanwhile, police were trying to find the owner of the property and working to get a search warrant.

The incident is still under investigation.
