2026 Harmony Graduate Keya J, Celebrated on the Field at Daikin's most Valuable STEAM Scholarship

It was a big-league moment for one of Harmony School of Discovery's brightest young innovators.

Standing on the field at Daikin Park, surrounded by fellow scholarship recipients and community leaders, graduating senior Keya J. was recognized as a recipient of the Daikin Most Valuable STEAM Scholarship, a prestigious honor celebrating outstanding achievement in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

The on-field presentation made the celebration even more memorable. With the energy of the ballpark as the backdrop, Keya proudly received her certificate and joined other exceptional students being honored for their academic excellence, leadership, and passion for innovation.

The scholarship, supported by Daikin Community N.A. and the Astros Foundation, awards $10,000 to students who are preparing to make a difference through STEAM-related fields. For Keya, that future is already taking shape.

A graduating senior from Harmony School of Discovery-Houston, Keya plans to pursue biomedical engineering, where she hopes to contribute to advancements that improve human health. Her interest in science and medicine has already led her to impressive research opportunities, including a prestigious internship at Rice University. There, she explored cutting-edge topics such as AI-based health care applications and RNA vaccine development, gaining valuable experience in areas that are helping shape the future of modern medicine.

Keya’s success extends beyond the lab. At Harmony School of Discovery-Houston, she has served as vice president of the National Honor Society, balancing rigorous academics with leadership and service. Her dedication reflects the very qualities the Daikin Most Valuable STEAM Scholarship was created to recognize: curiosity, perseverance, innovation, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact.
