Thousands Show For Houston 'March For Our Lives' Rally

The Houston March For Our Lives event will be held at Tranquility Park in downtown from 9-11 a.m.

HOUSTON, TX — Thousands of students, teachers and parents gathered Saturday for the March For Our Lives demonstration downtown.

The event is part of a nationwide movement demanding that congressional leaders strengthen gun laws.

Marchers planned to begin at Tranquilty Park and march to Sen. Ted Cruz's office, and then march back to Tranquilty Park.

On Feb. 14, former student Nikolas Cruz gunned down 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The shooting ignited protests days later in Florida and in Washington, DC, presumably oranized by students demanding stricter gun laws.

Other protests are planned nationwide, including protests in Dallas and Austin.
