3 Houston Area Sam's Club Stores Closed Without Warning

3 Sam's Club stores closed without warning in Houston, with many employees finding out when they showed up for work Thursday morning.

HOUSTON, TX — Three Houston area Sam’s Club stores are among several nationwide that abruptly closed.
The stores include two in Houston and a newer store in New Caney, located at:

  • 13331 Westheimer Road, at Eldridge Parkway
  • 1515 S. Loop, at Fannin Street
  • 2296 Marketplace Drive in New Caney

Sam's Club officials sent out the following message on Twitter Thursday morning:

The closures came on the same day Walmart announced pay increases for hourly employees, one time bonuses, and the expansion of its family leave policy.

Other Sam’s Club locations that closed in Texas include one in north San Antonio.

The Sam’s Club locations were supposedly shuttered without warning to employees, who learned of the closure as the arrived at work, KHOU reported.

Direct phone calls to the affected stores are answered with a recorded message that confirms the closure of the store.

Pharmacies at the closed locations are expected to remain open through Jan. 26.
