6 Boaters Rescued By Coast Guard In Galveston Bay This Weekend
Coast Guard responded to two boat fires, and one report of a capsized boat off Freeports coast.
GALVESTON, TX -- The U.S. Coast Guard had its hands full over the President’s Day Weekend, conducting multiple rescues of boaters in Galveston Bay
On Saturday, a watchful Coast Guardsman spotted smoke near Kemah, and launched a rescue and pulled two people from a burning sport boat, just before it was consumed by flames.

The next day, the Coast Guard responded to a fire that erupted on a Viking sport fishing boat just before 1 p.m. in Galveston Bay, and rescued four people.
Less than an hour later, the Coast Guard launched a second rescue, this time for a boat that had capsized boat off the coast of Freeport.

By the time the Coast Guard arrived a short time later, the two who were onboard had donned life jackets and swam back to shore, officials said.
There were no reported injuries in either case.
