All Wet: Robbery Suspect Escapes After Crashing Getaway Car In Retention Pond
Suspect who shot man twice outside his home during armed robbery, escapes sheriff's deputies after car sinks in pond.

HOUSTON, TX -- A robbery suspect who shot a man outside his home Tuesday night, managed to escape Harris County Deputies on foot after he crashed his car into a retention pond while fleeing the scene of a crime.
Deputies responded to the shooting incident at about 12:45 a.m. at a mobile home park in the 14000 block of West Hardy Road.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim outside his home with a bullet wound to his chest, and another in his arm, and a dark colored sedan submerged in a nearby pond. (Sign up for Patch’s daily newsletter for your neighborhood.)

Investigators said the 25-year old victim was pulling into his driveway after work, when a man with a gun approached him and demanded his valuables.
The victim told investigators that he handed over his cell phone, but that the man shot him anyway.

The robber, who is described as a young Hispanic man, got into a dark colored car, and crashed into a detention pond at the end of the street.
The robbery suspect managed to escape the sinking car, and escaped on foot.
Deputies fished the submerged car from the pond and hope to find a suspect through the car’s vehicle information.
The shooting victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The case is under investigation.
