Baytown Police Officer Allegedly Assaulted During Drug Arrest.

Officers patrolling in the area said they witnessed a drug transaction, and that the man resisted arrest and punched a police officer.

BAYTOWN, TX -- A man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly attacked a Baytown police officer who tried to arrest him after seeing him make a drug deal

According to police, officers were on patrol on Fourth Street and Texas Street, when they reportedly witnesses a narcotics transaction between a pedestrian and a man in a car.

Police said that during the traffic stop, the driver, identified as Kenny Cody, 31, of Baytown, got out of the car.

Officers said they sa the narcotics in Cody’s hand and that when the tried to arrest him, he resisted and punched the officer several times.

Officers said they were forced to use a Taser on Cody to place him in handcuffs.

Police said Cody had 3 grams of synthetic marijuana in a plastic bag when he was arrested.

He was taken to the city jail where he was charged with assaulting a public servant.
