Buckner Receives $10,000 Check from My Flooring America
Presented to staff at the Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine, the donation stems from a portion of My Flooring America's Labor Day sales.
My Flooring America donated $10,000 to support Buckner Family Hope Centers, presenting the check to staff at the Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine on Thursday, Oct. 24. The donation stemmed from My Flooring America’s Labor Day weekend promotion, when the Texas-based flooring retailer announced a portion of every sale from its Houston and Dallas-area stores would benefit the ministry from nonprofit Buckner International.
Presenting the check were My Flooring America co-owners Kelby Frederick and Scott Steel. Also on hand were Regional Sales Manager Mike Furin and Controller Valerie Sandoval.
“My Flooring America is proud to support Buckner International and its Buckner Family Hope Centers through our recent Labor Day promotion,” said Frederick. “The Buckner Family Hope Center is a wonderful service that supports the family unit. My Flooring America is a second generation, family-owned business that is the result of a merger between two family businesses – therefore, families play an important role in our personal and professional lives.”

The donation was received by Buckner International Chief Development Officer Arnie Adkison and Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine Director Shonice Reed, who provided a tour of the Aldine center’s programs and services, which include financial literacy, family coaching, ESL and GED classes, after-school youth programs and more.
“It’s wonderful when we have the opportunity to walk donors around one of our centers or campuses and provide them with a first-hand look at the impact their gift will have,” said Adkison. “From the moment we first discussed the mission of our Buckner Family Hope Centers, I could tell Kelby [Frederick] and Scott [Steel] felt an instant connection to the work they do for the communities we serve, and I thank the My Flooring America team on behalf of our staff and clients at the Family Hope Centers.”

Buckner Family Hope Centers keep families together by providing them with critical services, aid and coaching to keep them strong and decrease the likelihood of abuse, neglect and removal of children. The key to each Family Hope Center's success is found in combining effective programs and passionate people to help families that are experiencing poverty, family issues and a lack of services.
“We proudly support the many programs and initiatives the Family Hope Centers provide the local community to strengthen families, provide necessary support and teach families how to be the loving, supportive unit it is designed to be. Seeing the impact these programs have on people is extremely rewarding, and we look forward to supporting the Family Hope Centers in many ways, from financial donations to material donations and volunteerism with our team,” added Frederick.
Family Hope Centers in the Houston-area include the Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine and the Buckner Family Hope Center at Reed Road in South Houston. There are eight Family Hope Centers in Texas and more than 15 internationally.
My Flooring America supported Buckner earlier in the year when its stores collected news shoes for Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls throughout the month of August. More than 100 pairs of new shoes were collected and will go to vulnerable children in Texas and countries served by Buckner, like Mexico and Kenya.
