Bug Covered Newborn Found Naked In Grassy North Houston Field
A neighbor who heard the baby crying at first believed it was a toy, until he found her in a nearby field.

HOUSTON, TX — A newborn baby girl who was found abandoned in a grassy field near a north Houston apartment complex is receiving medical treatment at an area hospital.
Police were called to the The Bridges of Cypress Creek at Red Oak Drive and Interstate 45 at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday for a report of a baby found in the field. A witness told police he heard the baby crying, and at first thought it was a toy, but when he went to investigate and realized the baby was alive he called police, KHOU reported.

Investigators said the baby, who was only a few hours old, was covered in ants and bugs when she was discovered, according to a KPRC report.
She was taken to Texas Children's Hospital in The Woodlands, and is expected to be OK.

A 21-year old woman who is believed to be the child’s mother, is being held for questioning.
