Houston Father Is Killed In Front Of His Family

Carjacker became angry because he could not drive a stick shift and allegedly shot Pedro Aguilar to death in front of his wife and daughter.

HOUSTON, TX -- A man was shot to death by a carjacker in front of his family after the carjacker allegedly discovered the car was a stickshift and became angry.

Pedro Aguilar, 47, was shot to death in front of his wife and 10-year old daughter as they were coming home from dinner late Saturday.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 800 block of Richcrest Drive, shortly before midnight for a shooting.

Investigators said Aguilar was pulling into the Greenbriar Park North apartments at about 11 p.m., and let his wife and daughter out to walk to their apartment while he parked the car.

As he as parking his car, two men approached him in the parking lot.

Witnesses said the two men, who were described as being in their late teens or early 20s, forced Aguilar from his car and began pistol whipping him.

When the men got into Aguilar’s car,they allegedly discovered it was a manual transmission, became angry because they could not drive the car, and shot him to death.

Investigators said the men fled on foot.

Investigators are looking at video from the apartment complex as they piece together clues.
