Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man that occurred at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road about 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday (December 10).

The suspect, Blanca Mariah Banda (H/f, 18), is charged with aggravated assault - serious bodily injury in the 208th State District Court. She is accused in the shooting of Demone Bailey, 18, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives M. Althaus and L. Bolmanski reported:

Mr. Bailey was in his apartment at the above address with his girlfriend (Banda), who found a pistol. Banda asked Bailey if the gun was loaded, to which he responded yes. Banda then pointed the pistol at Bailey and shot him once in the head. Paramedics transported Bailey to the hospital. Banda was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently charged for her role in the shooting.
