Deputy Constable Fired After Fleeing An Accident That Left A Teenager Dead

The deputy constable reported details of the incident to his supervisor two days after the accident: Reports

CYPRESS, TX — A Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable was fired after his supervisors learned of his connection to a crash that claimed the life of a teenage girl, and left another in critical condition over the weekend.

The accident happened at about 10:30 p.m., Saturday near Cypress-Rosehill and Queenslake Drive in northwest Harris County.

The deputy constable said he saw the car speeding toward him, and turned around to give chase, but when the car flipped over at Queenslake Drive, he turned off his lights and siren, and drove away, KTRK reported.

The deputy didn’t say anything about the incident, until Monday when he shared some details with a supervisor, and was fired for violating policy, KHOU reported.

Meanwhile, the two girls were Cypress-Falls High School students.

The driver of the car, identified as Jenna Ellsmore, was taken by LifeFlight in critical condition.

The passenger, identified as 16-year-old Lily Haugen, died at the scene.

The incident is under investigation by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, but charges have not been filed against the deputy.

The families of both girls have been notified about the incident.
