Famed Climatolgist And NASA Astronaut Piers Sellers Dies

HOUSTON, TX -- Famed climate scientist and former NASA astronaut Piers Sellers died Friday morning after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

The death of the 61-year old Sellers comes just a couple of weeks after fellow space pioneer John Glenn passed away at the age of 95.

Sellers, who’d served as deputy director for sciences and exploration at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, joined the astronaut program in 1996 and made three space flights to the International Space Station with the first in 2002, and the last in 2010.

Sellers also appeared in Leonardo DiCaprio's 2016 climate-change documentary, "Before the Flood."
