
With deep sadness and bowed heads, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) has shared with its supporters the tragic news of the sudden passing of Julie Jerden z”l, FIDF Director of South Texas and a valued member of the Houston community. Jerden is survived by her husband Shelby and three sons.
“Julie’s energy and passion for Israel’s beloved soldiers was an integral part of her being and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her and were touched by her vivacious nature and drive,” said FIDF National Director and CEO Maj. Gen. (Res.) Meir Klifi-Amir. “Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to her cherished husband and beloved family. We wish them comfort in their warm memories of her and hope they know no more sorrow.”
Jerden joined FIDF last year as the Director of South Texas with 20 years of experience in non-profit and government fund development and strategic planning. She had worked with non-profit organizations of all types and sizes ranging from a local adult education school to large foundations, as well as city, county, state, and federal agencies.

“Julie was extraordinarily devoted and dedicated to the cause, full of passion, and I will miss her dearly. Please keep your thoughts and prayers in mind for her husband and three sons during this most difficult time. May her memory be a blessing,” said FIDF South Texas Chairman of the Board Eyal Shavitzky
