Gov. Abbott Forms Safety Task Force In Wake Of Astroworld Tragedy
The Texas Task Force on Concert Safety will include representatives from the music industry as well as law enforcement and safety agencies.

HOUSTON, TX โ Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Wednesday the formation of a task force to explore concert safety measures in the aftermath of the Astroworld Festival tragedy that killed eight people Friday.
The Texas Task Force on Concert Safety will be made up of safety experts, law enforcement, fire fighters, state agencies and music industry leaders, among others and will be led by Texas Music Office Director Brendon Anthony, according to a news release.
Members of the task force will be announced in the coming days, Abbott's office said, and some of the agencies that will be involved include:

"Live music is a source of joy, entertainment, and community for so many Texans โ and the last thing concertgoers should have to worry about is their safety and security," Abbott said in the news release. "To ensure that the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld Festival never happens again in the Lone Star State, I am forming the Texas Task Force on Concert Safety."

Abbott added that the task force is meant to develop "meaningful solutions" to keep concertgoers safe while maintaining an atmosphere of fun at live music events.
The task force will discuss and analyze concert safety and develop ways to enhance security at live music events in Texas. The group will prepare a report of recommendations and strategies to ensure concert safety and protect concertgoers.
