Houston Area Teams Advance To State Semifinal Game

Katy ended North Shore's season, while Langham Creek fell to Cy-Fair. Marshall fell in 5A D2, while Manvel plays Angleton in 5A D1 semifinal

HOUSTON, TX — Two Houston area high schools football programs advanced to the state 6A semifinal game with wins, while two Houston area teams will play each other in the Class 5A Division 1 semifinal game next week.

In Class 5A Division 1, Manvel ended the season for the Temple Wildcats, rolling to a 49-34 victory while Angleton defeated Foster 41-10.

Manvel and Angleton will face off on Dec. 15 at NRG Staduim for a chance to play for the state crown.

In Class 5A Division 2, Fort Bend Marshall went into Waller ISD stadium looking for a win against the College Station Cougars, but fell short in a wild one, losing 49-47.

The Cougars will face off against McCallum next week in the semifinal game.

Meanwhile, in Class 6A Division 1, Katy soundedlly defeated North Shore 31-3 at NRG Stadium, and will play the winner of the O'Connor-Lake Travis quarterfinal game on Dec. 14.


In Cass 6A Division 2 two Cy-Fair ISD teams faced off against each other with Cy-Fair ending the Langham Creek Lobos' season with a 31-14 win.

Cy-Fair will face the winner of the Westlake-Steele matchup in next week's semifinal contest.
