Houston Astros Pay Respects to Longtime Groundskeeper Richardson
Richardson remembered for being one of the few groundskeepers to be ejected from a major league baseball game.
HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Astros will take the field against the Seattle Mariners for game two of their three game homestand at Minute Maid Park Tuesday night, but they will be missing a long time fixture to their team.
Mike Richardson, 59, who’d served as the groundskeeper at Minute Maid Park for 15 years, passed away.
Richardson’s death was announced by the Astros’ Twitter account at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Although not a player, Richardson was well known and respected by players in the clubhouse, and by many of the local sportswriters and broadcasters in the Houston media.
Chronicle Sports Columnist Jerome Solomon tweeted his condolences, calling Richardson "a dedicated Astros man."

Funeral arrangements for Richardson are pending.
