Houston Girl Accepted By 7 Ivy League Colleges
Elsik senior, who plans to attend Yale University in the fall, once struggled with reading and speech.

HOUSTON, TX — An Alief Elsik High School senior will have the opportunity to pick and choose her college of choice after learning that she was accepted into 15 of the 16 universities she applied to, with 7 of those being Ivy League schools.
Amina Mabizari, 18, will graduate at the top of her class of 830 students in June, but that’s not how it always was for the child of Algerian immigrants.

The once shy Mabizari was at one time last in her class, and had difficulty reading and had a serious speech impediment.
Mabizari applied herself and overcame the obstacles to become number one.

"I have been accepted by 16 schools," she told KPRC. "Seven out of eight Ivy league schools. The eighth is Harvard where I was wait listed."
Mabizari said she plans to attend Yale University and major in political science.
