SAN DIEGO, CA — A Houston area man cheated death, after falling some 20 feet down a rocky cliff while taking pictures.

Gerald Hobbs, 19, and two of his friends were a video at San Diego’s Sunset Cliffs, when the rocks Hobbs stood on gave way beneath him and sent him tumbling over a 20 cliff into the water below.

The incident happened Thursday evening on Aug. 3, just after sunset.

"I should be dead right now but I’m really grateful for everything that happened,” said Hobbs.

Hobbs walked away with a few bumps, bruises and scratches to his legs, and was actually walking near the base of the cliff as he waited on his rescue, KTRK reported.
